City buses in Modica: transport in the city with SAIS Autolinee
With a new impetus and a concrete commitment, Modica's urban public transport is ready to face the challenges of the future, under the banner of efficiency, accessibility and sustainability. Now, with a renewed city bus line.
Starting on 1 July 2024, urban public transport in Modica will have a new look: SAIS Autolinee, a company already active in the sector in Syracuse, Enna and Milazzo, will take over from the previous management with the aim of improving service to citizens. This change, promoted under the motto ‘Modica si Muove’,is part of a broader project to upgrade the city's bus mobility.
SAIS Autolinee buses: efficiency, innovation and accessibility
SAIS Autolinee will operate the urban service for the next two years, employing a fleet of 7 new-generation buses, all equipped with platforms to facilitate access for disabled passengers.
Among the innovations introduced for the new urban lines are:
- an infomobility app (active from 1 July on the summer line and subsequently extended to all others) that allows real-time monitoring of city bus timetables in Modica, their location in the city and the easy and secure purchase of electronic tickets.
- an artificial intelligence system (operating from 1 November 2024) that will provide personalised route recommendations and suggest places of interest to visit in the city.
Tickets and subscriptions: Flexible options for all needs
Tickets:
- Valid 1 ride (€ 1.20) this type of ticket, once validated, cannot be reused
- Valid 1 day (€ 5.50) this time ticket can be used several times until midnight on the day of validation
Season tickets:
- Weekly Pass (€ 15.00) this type of pass is valid for an entire week, with Monday as the day of the start and Sunday as the end. It allows passengers access on board on all lines of the urban network with no limit to the number of journeys they can make.
- Monthly season ticket (€ 48.00) similar to the weekly season ticket, but valid for the entire calendar month. It allows passengers access on board on all lines of the urban network with no limit to the number of journeys that can be made. There is also a dedicated fare for the Under 20s (€ 36.00).

Urban Lines in Modica: Transport Policies and Assistance
- Children under the age of 4 travel free of charge when accompanied by a traveller holding a valid and regular ticket.
- Small and medium-sized dogs may be transported free of charge as long as they are provided with a leash and muzzle in a basket and in suitable hygienic conditions. Cats and other small pets are also allowed to travel free of charge as long as they are in a pet carrier.
